Lodging
There is limited on-site housing in some of the village buildings. This is single-sex “dorm” style housing in which you bring your own pallet for the floor.
You will be in historic buildings, but in most cases the sleeping situations are not historic. Bedding will need to be rolled up and stowed during the day, but we do ask that
all bedding be period correct. Straw for ticking will be provided. If you are a couple/family and wish to sleep together, please let the event organizers know so that we can
plan accordingly. If you have any special needs, please contact the event coordinators well in advance of the event.
If extra sleeping space is needed, we can allow period tents for a “camp of convenience” located on site, but out of site of the main village. Opportunities may exist for a select
number of participants to camp in period correct style depending on impressions (i.e. a hunting party or a group portraying colliers). Contact the event organizers if you are
interested in using camping as part of your impression.
Because many people who worked in the village lived outside of the village, it is completely appropriate to stay off-site and “day trip” into the village.
There are some good options for staying off site. It is the responsibility of the participant to make their own off site arrangements.
Holiday Inn Morgantown
Reasonable priced national chain within a reasonable distance to the event.
French Creek State Park
Pennsylvania State Park adjacent to Hopewell Furnace National Park. Modern camping and cabin rental (reserve early if you are interested in a cabin)
Food
Food will be cooked by designated participants as part of their impression (please contact the event coordinator if you are interested in cooking/baking for the group).
Meals will be eaten communally at the boarding house or at other appropriate places within the village. All food will be period and prepared/packaged in a period manner.
The cost of meals for the weekend is included in your registration fee. If you bring food into the village, it must be packaged in a period container.
You will need to bring your own period appropriate plates, bowls, cups, napkins, and eating utensils. If you have any special dietary needs and/or allergies,
please let the event coordinator know. We will not be able to accommodate all needs, so be prepared to bring food that will suit your needs.
Other Items
In addition to sleeping and eating items, please bring along any items that will enhance your particular impression.
If you have any questions about something you would like to bring, please contact the event coordinator. There are chairs and benches around the village,
but you may want to bring your own chairs to ensure you have a place to sit.
